The following Standards apply to all green and trained dogs purchased from K9 Placement Services.

Police K9, Law Enforcement K9, Military K9 and Security K9 Services

Standards:

The canine has been tested for temperament and working ability in accordance with the International Police Dog Testing Standards (IPDTS).

Extensive health screening to include; X-rays of hips and elbows are provided to assure the soundness of the joints. A complete medical examination has been performed, checking blood work, gait, skin, coat, teeth, heart and found clear of intestinal parasites. Immunizations are always kept current based on European Animal Health standards, and documented in the Official EU Pets Passport (applies to all dogs originating from Europe).

The KPS Police K9 Prospect has been Selection Tested for attitude, drive capacities, ability to withstand extreme and adverse environmental conditions and surroundings, behavior, trainability, self-confidence, prolonged and sustained drive thresholds, as well as evaluated for the following:

* Must be generally alert, active, outgoing, curious and confident.

* Must display basic socialization and tolerance to people in general public settings.

* Has been tested for confidence in nighttime situations as well as inside and outside of buildings, on various types of surfaces and heights.

* Must be willing to navigate obstacles, varying types of floor surfaces, and stairs, etc..

* Tested for gunfire sureness and confidence.
* Searching/Hunting character and qualities are tested thoroughly to determine appropriate long-term role placement.

* Defense Test assesses the KPS Police K9 Prospect’s drive to fight for itself or handler when faced with threat. The dog must bite when approached in a threatening manner without any training equipment on attacker in order to evaluate his natural behavior.

K9 Placement Services offers training Workshops and Boot Camps for working K9 Handlers and Police K9 Units on request.
